Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DocsBuddy, an app operated by MyTechBytes ("we", "us", the "app"), collects, uses, stores and protects your information when you use our mobile application and website at docsbuddy.mytechbytes.in. By using DocsBuddy you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your name and email address, used to create and secure your account. If you sign in with Google, we receive these from your Google account (see section 4).
- Asset & reminder data — the assets you add (vehicles, appliances, electronics, etc.), their details, and the due dates you track (insurance, AMC, pollution, warranty, registration, fitness, tax).
- Documents you upload — invoices, warranty cards, insurance policies, photos and similar files you choose to attach to an asset.
- Family / sharing data — the family group you create or join and the members you invite.
- Device & push tokens — a push-notification token and basic device/platform information so we can deliver reminders.
- Usage & diagnostic data — limited technical logs (e.g. crashes, errors) used to keep the app reliable.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the core service — storing your assets, documents and reminders, and syncing them across your devices and family members.
- To send you renewal reminders and notifications via push, email or WhatsApp according to your settings.
- To authenticate you and keep your account and data secure.
- To diagnose problems, improve performance and develop new features.
- To respond to your support requests.
3. Service providers we use
We rely on trusted third-party platforms to operate DocsBuddy. Your data may be processed by:
- Supabase — authentication, database and file storage for your account, asset data and documents.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivery of push notifications and reminders to your device.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We share only what is necessary for them to perform these functions.
4. Google user data
DocsBuddy offers Sign in with Google as an optional way to create and access your account. This section explains exactly what Google user data we access and what we do with it.
Data we access. When you choose Sign in with Google, we request only these scopes:
openid: a unique Google account identifier, used to recognise you when you sign in.email: your Google account email address.profile: your name and profile picture.
We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts, Google Calendar, or any other Google service or data.
How we use it. We use this data only to:
- create your DocsBuddy account and sign you in securely;
- show your name and picture in the app and to family members you choose to invite;
- send account and reminder emails to your email address, according to your settings.
How we store and protect it. Your Google account identifier, name, email address and profile picture URL are stored in your DocsBuddy account record with our authentication provider, Supabase, over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections and with access restricted to your own account. We do not store your Google password, and we never see it.
Sharing. We do not sell Google user data. We do not share it with third parties, except with Supabase to operate sign-in, with family members you invite (name and picture only), or where required by law. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not use it to develop, improve or train generalised AI or machine-learning models.
Retention and deletion. We keep this data while your account is active. You can delete your account from the app's settings, or by emailing support@docsbuddy.mytechbytes.in. When you do, your Google-derived account data is deleted within 30 days. You can also remove DocsBuddy's access to your Google account at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions.
5. Legal basis & consent
We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the app), with your consent (e.g. notification channels and document uploads), and to pursue our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and reliable. You can withdraw consent at any time by changing your settings or deleting your account.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. Data is shared only: (a) with the service providers listed above; (b) with the family members you choose to invite, who can view and update shared assets; and (c) where required by law or to protect our rights and users.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete an asset or document it is removed from active storage, and when you delete your account your personal data is deleted within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations.
8. Security
Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored by our providers with access controls and row-level security so that only you and your family can read your records. Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure keystore. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.
9. Your rights
- Access & portability — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correction — update inaccurate information directly in the app.
- Deletion — delete individual assets, documents, or your whole account.
- Withdraw consent — turn off notification channels or revoke document access at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
10. Children's privacy
DocsBuddy is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence. Where this happens, we rely on our providers' safeguards to protect your data in line with applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated in the app.
